Space Shuttle Discovery Successfully Rolls Back to Launch Pad

WASHINGTON, June 15, 2005

With new safety modifications, the Space Shuttle Discovery is back at Launch Pad 39B at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Fla. Carried by a giant Crawler Transporter, Discovery arrived at the pad at 12:17 p.m. EDT today in preparation for its historic Return to Flight mission (STS-114) planned for July.

NASA Selects Contractors for Crew Exploration Vehicle Work

WASHINGTON, June 13, 2005

NASA today announced the selection of Lockheed Martin Corp. and the team of Northrop Grumman Corp. and The Boeing Co. that will lead to an award to build the agency's Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV). The selection is part of NASA's plan to have two contractors compete in the design and production process for the Space Shuttle's replacement.

Medical Associations Urge U.S. Senate Committee to Allow Physician/Senators to Maintain Not-For-Profit Practices

WASHINGTON, June 13, 2005

Twelve medical associations, led by the American Academy of Dermatology Association (Academy Association) have issued a letter urging the U.S. Senate Rules and Administration Committee to change the current rule forbidding physicians to maintain not-for-profit medical practices while serving in the Senate.

NASA Gives Congress First Testimony From Space

Outer Space, June 10, 2005

NASA's astronaut aboard the International Space Station will provide the first-ever Congressional testimony from space. Expedition 11 crew member John Phillips is scheduled to appear, via satellite, before the House Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee chaired by Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Calif., on Tuesday, June 14. The hearing will be carried live on NASA Television starting at 2 p.m. EDT.
