Tide Coldwater Announces $100,000 Donation to the National Fuel Funds Network
CINCINNATI, June 13, 2005
Procter & Gamble's Tide Coldwater -- the first detergent specifically designed to deliver deep cleaning in cold water -- announced today the partnership grantees of the $100,000 donation benefiting the National Fuel Funds Network (NFFN).

When Tide Coldwater launched this past January 2005, they also announced a working partnership with the Alliance to Save Energy, one of the world's premier energy efficiency organizations, to jointly issue the Tide Coldwater Challenge. The challenge encouraged consumers to "take the plunge" and wash their laundry in cold water to save money and energy. In addition, Tide Coldwater pledged to donate $100,000 to the NFFN, an organization that assists state and local groups helping low income families pay their energy.

"We are pleased to make this donation to the NFFN and help improve the lives of those most in need," says Julie Woffington, Tide Brand Manager. "We are also excited by the consumer response to Tide Coldwater. They are clearly enjoying the benefit of washing in cold water while also cutting down on energy bills."

"We are delighted with the partnership forged with Tide Coldwater. First, it has helped people across the US learn more about an energy efficient product," says George Coling, Executive Director, NFFN. "Second, through Tide Coldwater's grant to the organization, the partnership will provide financial assistance to families with low income in seven communities who need aid to cope with high home energy bills."

Grants were determined proportionately to the regional participation in the Tide Coldwater Challenge. Recipient grantees include:

   * Crisis Assistance Ministry (Charlotte, NC)
   * Citizens Gas Warm Heart Warm Foundation (Indianapolis, IN)
   * American Red Cross of Greater Arkansas (Little Rock, AR)
   * Westmoreland Human Opportunities (Greensburg, PA)
   * Colorado Springs Utilities Project COPE (Colorado Springs, CO)
   *  TEAM Inc. (Derby, CT)
   * CAC of Lewis, Mason & Thurston Counties (Olympia, WA)

About National Fuel Fund Network (NFFN)

The National Fuel Funds Network consists of 250 members; nonprofit agencies, utilities, and government representatives that provide utility bill assistance raised as charitable donations. In 2001-02, fuel funds -- also called energy banks, charitable energy assistance programs or bill assistance programs -- provided about $125 million in energy aid to almost two million U.S. households in need. Fuel funds are the providers of last resort to families whose federal energy assistance has expired. We offer many flexible and innovative responses to families that the federal program cannot.
