Uncle Vanya

April 11, 2005, Highland Park, IL: Apple Tree Theatre is proud to announce Uncle Vanya as the final show of their 22^nd season. Adapated by Brian Friel, based on the play by Anton Checkhov.  The show will be directed by Mark Lococo and features an all-star line up of Chicago favorites including Ross Lehman, Kate Fry, Shawn Douglas, Patrick Clear, Barbara Clear, Susan Shunk, Flora Koken, and Mark Mysliwiec.

When a retired professor returns to the family estate with his new young wife, who is not much older than his own daughter, everyone’s daily routine is disrupted, Uncle Vanya’s most of all.  The chickens are running loose, the professor’s gout is acting up, teatime runs all day, and those are just the minor distractions! The professor’s daughter is in love with the local doctor, but the doctor and Vanya have fallen in love with the professor’s new wife. In this timeless play of unrequited love, human foibles and family dysfunction, Chekhov offers a poignant and unforgettable evening of humor and compassion.

The show runs from June 15 – July 17, 2005, with a Press Opening: Sunday, June 19, 2005 at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $38 ($33 for students and seniors) and group/party rates are available. Normal performance times are Wednesdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays at 8:00 pm, Saturday 5:00 pm and 8:30 pm, and Sundays at 3:00 and 7:00 pm. For specific dates, please check the performance schedule below.
