A jam-packed crowd of hundreds of people attended the opening night of the Academy of Art University "Spring Show" on Thursday, May 26, 2005 at the Academy's Main Gallery located at 79 New Montgomery Street. The opening capped a day when more than 200 leaders from cutting-edge art and design companies nationwide -- ranging from Hollywood to General Motors -- came to tour the Academy of Art University's juried art and design Spring Show and interview students for potential employment.

There is still time to enter the American Academy of Pediatrics' National Art Contest. The contest is open to boys and girls in two age groups, grades 3-5 and 6-8. The winner in each age group and their parents/guardians will be invited to attend the 2005 AAP National Conference & Exhibition in Washington, DC, on October 8, 2005, for the culmination of the AAP's year-long 75th anniversary celebration. The contest closes June 20, 2005.

VSA arts announced the finalists whose artwork has been selected for the "Discover What Art Is ... " nationwide call for entries. The touring exhibit will debut on June 6, 2005 at Union Station in Washington, D.C. and runs thru June 26, 2005. Students with and without disabilities, grades K-12, from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and participating countries submitted works of art that reflect their perspective of what art is and why it is important to them.
