Held June 17-19 (Father's Day weekend) at Beach Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky., the Hot Rod Reunion has just been named by the Kentucky Tourism Council as a "Summer Top Ten Event." The Reunion's colorful and unique combination of sights, sounds and activities is an extension of the "living history" philosophy of the event's organizer, the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, located in Pomona, Calif.

"The great thing about the National Hot Rod Reunion is that it's like visiting an auto museum come to life," said Sam Jackson, director of the Wally Park NHRA Motorsports Museum. "Legendary drag cars roar down the track and fabled race drivers are available to talk to and sign autographs. People aren't just spectators at the Reunion, they're participants."

The Reunion includes a wide variety of activities and events, including NHRA vintage drag racing featuring famous and historic cars and drivers, a street rod show with thousands of gleaming pre-1972 hot rods, custom and muscle cars, Cruise Night through historic Bowling Green on Thursday, National Hot Rod Reunion Reception on Friday evening, a concert by Gary Lewis and The Playboys on Saturday, "Cacklefest" on Saturday evening where nitro-burning top-fuel dragsters are push started just like in the "old days," a swap meet and Reunion Midway filled with manufacturer exhibits. There's even an old fashion amusement park with rides and games adjacent to the park.
