80 Philadelphia Area Children With Disabilities to Spend a `Day at the Phillies Game' With Young Professionals Groups
PHILADELPHIA, June 9, 2005
Gathering for an afternoon of soft pretzels, hot dogs and home runs, 40 members the Young Professionals Network (YPN) of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and 40 members from Young Variety, the young professional division of Variety - The Children's Charity of Greater Philadelphia, will partner for the first time to take 80 local children with disabilities for a "Day at the Phillies Game" on Sunday, June 12, 2005 at 1:35 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park.

The 80 children attending from the Variety Camp and Developmental Center in Montgomery County, PA, are looking forward to catching foul balls and watching the Phillie Phanatic dance as the red-hot Philadelphia Phillies take on the Milwaukee Brewers. The group of young professionals is confident that the baseball outing will encourage the children as they deal with the difficulties of living with and overcoming their disabilities.

"The Young Professionals Network is about more than just professional development and networking opportunities," said Patrick Mullen, president, YPN. "The organization is also centered around personal enrichment. Our partnership with Young Variety to host 'Day at the Phillies Game' has presented the perfect opportunity to reach out to children with disabilities in the community and show our commitment to the region. This is really going to be a great day."

"Day at the Phillies Game" marks the beginning of a promising alliance between Young Variety and YPN, which share the common desire to reach out to children in the community and help them lead more fulfilling lives.

"It is great to see two groups coming together to give back to the community and provide Variety's children with disabilities with a fun day at the Phillies game," said Andrew Pack, executive director, Young Variety.
