Two New Books From N.C. Writer Lucy Daniels Hit Market in Spring 2005
RALEIGH, N.C., May 27, 2005
Lucy Daniels, N.C. writer and clinical psychologist, announces the publication of two new books in spring 2005. Daniels offers two strikingly different yet related books. The first is a fascinating journey through the process of overcoming a crippling writer's block and the other is a compelling new novel. In combination, the books offer an exciting look at the process of achieving creative and emotional freedom and the product of that freedom, Daniels' first novel in over forty years.

Dreaming Your Way to Creative Freedom chronicles Daniels' work with dreams and the unconscious to overcome her writer's block and shares with readers a roadmap to creative and emotional freedom. The Eyes of the Father is a compelling story about people controlled by the past. This is a love story with epic dimensions in which opposites are persistent factors: black vs. white, tradition vs. progress, slavery vs. freedom, people vs. art, life on earth vs. life hereafter. And as in real life, human strength and frailty interact with fate to produce a mixture of sadness and joy in which one person's tragedy sometimes results in victory for another.

The Eyes of the Father is Daniels' first novel since her best-selling, Guggenheim Award-winning novel, Caleb, My Son in 1956, followed by High on a Hill in 1961. Her breakthrough memoir, With a Woman's Voice (2002), marked her return to writing.

Dreaming Your Way to Creative Freedom is currently available at Quail Ridge Books & Music, Barnes & Noble Booksellers and Amazon.com. Daniels plans a North Carolina book tour through fall 2005 and is currently engaged in a series of readings, book signings and interviews.

Lucy Daniels, PhD, is a writer, philanthropist and clinical psychologist in private practice in Raleigh, N.C. She established the Lucy Daniels Foundation in 1989. A private, non-profit organization, the Foundation acts as a catalyst to bring together artists, scholars, mental health professionals and the general public to explore creativity through a psychoanalytic perspective. She is a founder of The Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood, a private non-profit agency devoted to the emotional and social well-being of children developing typically as well as those with extra social and emotional challenges.

Premiere reading June 2, 7 p.m.: Quail Ridge Books, Raleigh. Launch party follows immediately. For information about book readings/signings, please email lucydanielsbook@nc.rr.com .
