Mt. Prospect, IL  - Capannari Ice Cream won a national award at the 71^st National Ice Cream Retailers Association (NICRA) Convention at the Hilton Resort in Orlando, Florida.  Capannari Ice Cream won a Red Ribbon for its Vanilla Ice Cream.

“These awards are very special to Capannari’s because they bring national recognition to our products,” commented Jim Capannari.  “This convention brings together the best of the best in the ice cream industry, so to be recognized here is an honor,” added Capannari.

Dr. Ronald Schmidt, the Dairy Science Department Chairman at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, conducted the judging.  Almost thirty samples of both vanilla and chocolate were submitted by manufacturers across the nation to be considered.  Judging was based on a 35-point system and judging was based on microbial and sensory criteria. Capannari Ice Cream only submitted ice cream in the vanilla category.
