More than 2,200 coeds – and former coeds – between the ages of 18 and 34 revealed the truth about their extracurricular activities in the nationwide survey, conducted by Directive Analytics.
“Some of the most important lessons learned in high school and college are from life experience, and kissing is high on the list,” said William Cane, author of The Art of Kissing. “Raging hormones and unprecedented freedom drive coeds to fill their free time searching for first loves and romantic experiences. This survey uncovers the truth about campus love lessons.”
Campus Kisses Americans kiss an average of seven different people during their college careers. Surprisingly, there is a huge disparity between the sexes – nearly 1 in 10 men claim they kissed more than 35 different people, while a whopping 15 percent of women report having chaste lips. These conservative students didn’t kiss a single person during their college years!
College Make-Out Spots Regardless of how many people you kiss in college, you need some place to pucker up! The most popular make-out spot? Parties – more than two-fifths of passionate coeds lock lips while hanging out with friends.
When things get hot and heavy, some Americans move their private party to a dorm room. Nearly a quarter of college students prefer to hook up in the intimate confines of their room, as opposed to a crowded party. Other popular make-out spots include the quads or commons, “frat row” and bars.
Kissing Corners You’re not alone if your high school had a “kissing corner,” where couples always seemed to be making out. Nearly 30 percent of American schools have a space dedicated to getting your groove on!
These passion pit-stops are most often found on campuses in Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, where almost half of all schools have one. But you’ll have to search for a kissing corner in the Midwest – they’re found on less than 3 in 10 campuses.
Kissing High School Goodbye Nearly a quarter of college-bound Americans kiss their significant others goodbye in anticipation of campus hook-ups. Of these eager coeds, 1 in 10 men still wonder if they made a mistake doing so, compared to just 5 percent of women.
If you’re in a relationship, take heart – more than 10 percent of loyal high school couples have survived the allure of college romances. These devoted duos report that their relationships are intact and thriving.
