Families attending the information sessions will learn more about the schools, view the curriculum, books and materials, witness a demonstration of the academic program, and find out how their child can enroll in one of the tuition-free public schools for the 2005-2006 year. CAVA teachers and/or administrators will be there to answer questions about the schools. All sessions are free and open to the public. For dates, times and locations of all California Virtual Academies' education events, please visit: http://www.caliva.org/. The California Virtual Academies are a network of public virtual charter schools serving over 2,000 California students in kindergarten through eighth grades. The charters were sponsored by the Spencer Valley School District in San Diego County; Maricopa Unified School District in Kern County; Jamestown School District in Tuolumne; and Liberty Elementary School District in Sonoma County. Each is an autonomous school authorized by the district hosting it that can enroll students living in their home county or adjoining counties. The California Virtual Academies offer families an innovative public education option that includes a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum in six traditional subjects. In CAVA students work at home with a parent or responsible adult and receive instruction and guidance from certified public school teachers who operate remotely. Students who enroll in CAVA receive a computer, monitor, printer, access to the K12 On-Line School, lessons, assessments, books, materials, planning and progress tools, and much more. Since the California Virtual Academies are public schools, they are tuition- free for residents qualifying residents of California. CAVA provides a unique education opportunity where parents play an active role in their child's education, and where each child receives the tools, attention, and resources to ensure they are receiving the highest quality education.
