May 9, 2005, Columbia, Md. – The Government Emerging Technology Alliance (GETA) will be holding its 4th Annual Government Symposium and Exposition on Information Sharing and Homeland Security in New Orleans, La., June 27-29.
This year’s program, “Best Practices and Real World Solutions,” will feature addresses by Daniel J. Ostergaard, executive director of the Homeland Security Advisory Council, Department of Homeland Security, Maureen Baginsky, executive assistant director of the Office of Intelligence, FBI, Bernd “Bear” McConnell, director, interagency coordination directorate of Headquarters North American Aerospace Defense Command & Headquarters of U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM), and Dr. George Kelling, senior fellow of the Manhattan Institute and Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University – all renowned and nationally-known experts in their respective fields. In addition, the program will include breakout tracks on Intelligence, Law Enforcement, and Military Support to address the numerous critical topics confronting the national-security community.
“We have identified topics and recruited speakers that reflect the theme of our Convention - Best Practices and Real World Solutions," Symposium Chair, Maj. Gen. Craig Whelden, U.S. Army (ret.) said. “Attendees will see how progress, in our information sharing systems, processes and protocols, have allowed linkages from the federal level to the trooper's ability to use that information during a routine traffic stop. We have charged our outstanding line-up of speakers to stimulate, educate, and inspire, and to not avoid the hard questions. This symposium will be a great opportunity to interact with practitioners who have been there."
