When: Monday June 6, 2005 * 7:45 AM - Networking * 8:15 AM - Keynote

Where: Hilton Long Island/Huntington, 598 Broad Hollow Road, Melville,

The event boasts an impressive cast of 'roasters,' including: Charles Gargano, Chairman of the Empire State Development Corporation; U.S. Congressman Steve Israel; Richard Kessel, Chairman of the Long Island Power Authority; Dr. Lee E. Koppelman of the Long Island Regional Planning Board and Professor at Stony Brook University; Arthur J. Kremer, former Chair of NYS Assembly's Ways and Means Committee and Partner in Ruskin Moscou Faltischek; Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy; Islip Town Supervisor Peter McGowan; Joseph Mondello, Chairman of the Nassau County Republican Committee; Huntington Town Supervisor Frank P. Petrone; and Richard Schaffer, Chairman of the Suffolk County Democratic Committee.
"Many of us feel, quite frankly, that Senator D'Amato 'raised the bar' as an advocate for New York and Long Island. He delivered literally millions to the Island, successfully got our needs before the White House and his colleagues in Congress and continues even today in the private sector," said Ron Lazar, SIOR, Chairman of the Regional Chamber.
Senator D'Amato's advocacy for Long Island provided billions of dollars and eased the transition from a defense-based economy -- revitalizing Main Street businesses and funding high-tech, transportation, healthcare and bio-tech projects. He delivered tens of millions for open space, environmental cleanup and conservation initiatives in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Senator D'Amato provided federal funding for breast cancer research on Long Island in recognition of the fact that it experiences one of the highest rates in the country.
"We are fortunate to have two United States Senators and a pro-active delegation to Washington who embrace the philosophy of Senator D'Amato," noted former US Congressman Michael P. Forbes, now President of the regional business group. "Senator D'Amato never took 'no' for an answer when it came to the needs of Long Island. He would cajole the White House or good-humoredly prod committee chairs in the US House, as well as the US Senate to release the various funds he placed in the Federal budget or to send his legislation to the floor of Congress for a vote."
