Clive "Max" Maxfield, President of TechBites, will guide the development and implementation of the new websites as Executive Editor. Maxfield, a highly respected writer and speaker in the EDA, IC and embedded systems arena, will continue with his existing commitments which include: 1) writing a column for the monthly e-mail newsletter EDN on Embedded Processing; and 2) providing editorial guidance and assistance to Chip Design magazine in executing iDesign, its new online publication.

With Maxfield assuming the role of Executive Editor of SOCcentral.com and the three new websites, Miklosz assumes the broader role of Editorial Director and Publisher.

"With the traditional print publications only shadows of what they were a few years ago, coupled with the scarcity of independent websites devoted to covering the various aspects of electronic design, these three new sites will provide a valuable and easily accessible service to both engineers and the hardware and software suppliers trying to reach them," said Miklosz.

Biographies

Miklosz is a 25-year electronics publishing veteran, having started his career with Electronic Engineering Times in 1980, then moving on to become Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of Computer Design magazine and Publisher of Portable Design magazine. In 2000, he signed on as Editorial Director of TechOnLine, an ambitious startup that would deliver the traditional design editorial along with interactive web broadcasts, online courses, and "virtual labs."

Maxfield started his career in 1980 designing central processing units for mainframe computers. Since that time, he has designed ASICs and circuit boards; created simulation models ranging from ASIC cell libraries to microprocessors; wandered thorough a host of EDA and software development tools; and is currently President of TechBites Interactive. Maxfield has authored a number of books, the most recent of which are "EDA: Where Electronics Begin" and "The Design Warrior's Guide to FPGAs."
