YWCA and Corporate College(R) Accepting Applications for First Women-Only Leadership Program in Northeast Ohio
CLEVELAND, June 15, 2005

Leadership Boot Camp Applications Due July 15

The YWCA of Greater Cleveland and Corporate College are accepting applications for the first structured leadership program designed especially for women. Leadership Boot Camp is a nine-month program designed to prepare women for executive-level leadership through position appropriate developmental education.

Fifty participants, who must be supported by their employers, will be chosen. Applications, available at http://www.ywca.org/cleveland or http://www.corporatecollege.com/, are due July 15 and selected participants will be announced in early August.

The Leadership Boot Camp is designed for women with 2-10 years of career experience who have been identified as potential leaders by their employers. Participants in the class will learn about leadership styles and skills and create strategic life and career plans. They will meet once a month for half- day sessions at the Corporate College East campus beginning Sept. 16. The course runs through May. Program topics include developing an individual strategic life and career plan, presenting with confidence, understanding the bottom-line, entrepreneurial skills and the importance of ethics and trust.

"The Leadership Boot Camp is a great way for executives to invest in their employees and company," Barbara Danforth, executive director of the YWCA of Greater Cleveland, said. "By training women for executive leadership positions, companies can develop balanced management teams capable of understanding the advantages of gender differences and leadership styles -- all skills necessary to run an efficient organization in today's business world."
