PA DCED Secretary Announces Economic Development Project That Will Create Nearly 100 Jobs in Dauphin County
WILLIAMSTOWN, Pa., May 19
Pennsylvania Community and Economic Development (DCED) Secretary Dennis Yablonsky today announced that Zemco Tool & Die will create at least 90 jobs within three years and retain 80 existing employees at its Williamstown facility. The company, which does assembly, stamping, molding, slitting, machine build and metal fabrication, is purchasing machinery and equipment and upgrading the computer system at its West Broad Street location.

"The jobs that will be created by Zemco Tool & Die in the Williams Valley area over the next three years are family-sustaining manufacturing jobs," said Secretary Yablonsky. "Today's announcement emphasizes the fact that the manufacturing industry remains a driving force of Pennsylvania's economy, accounting for one out of every eight jobs. Zemco's continued growth and expansion in Dauphin County also confirms the commonwealth's appeal to manufacturing firms."

Zemco has purchased state-of-the-art machinery and equipment to streamline and perform various manufacturing operations to become more efficient and cost effective within the global market. The company has also made Enterprise Resource Planning upgrades to manage multi-plant scheduling and material flow through wireless terminals.

Members of the Governor's Action Team (GAT), economic-development professionals who report directly to Governor Edward G. Rendell and Secretary Yablonsky, worked with Zemco Tool & Die to secure a $980,000 financial package that includes $500,000 through the Machinery and Equipment Loan Fund (MELF); a $150,000 Opportunity Grant; $150,000 in Job Training Assistance; and $180,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits.

Mantec Inc., which assists small and mid-sized manufacturing enterprises in southcentral Pennsylvania, and the Dauphin County Department of Community and Economic Development also worked with Zemco Tool & Die on its Williams Township expansion.

"Through our more than 20 years of operation in Pennsylvania, we have enjoyed strong and supportive relationships with the community, state, county and township governments," said John Zemaitis, Owner of Zemco Tool & Die. "Thanks to the Governor's Action Team, DCED and Mantec, we will continue training our employees, upgrading equipment and growing our business in Dauphin County."

Since its creation in 1981, Zemco has provided services primarily to electronic manufacturers. Within the past three years, the ISO-certified company has expanded its capabilities enabling them to serve more than 75 customers in various industries.
