| mrspr.com >Home Releases Career Development Women Seeking a Career Makeover Can Now Apply for Any One of Several ITWomen Scholarship Opportunities to Pursue Careers in Technology MIAMI, May 19 As part of its commitment to offering women career opportunities and training in technology, ITWomen Charitable Foundation, a South Florida non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and development of women in technology, is offering two career makeover opportunities -- a technology training scholarship in coordination with New Horizons Computer Learning Center and a $10,000 in-kind scholarship to pursue a career in technology at The Academy of South Florida (The Academy), a Microsoft Gold Certified Technical Education Center in Miami-Dade County. The ITWomen Charitable Foundation and the New Horizons Computer Learning Center in Miami are sponsoring a special drawing for five technical training courses valued at $2,250 each. The drawing is part of the ITWomen Technology Training Scholarship program, designed for ITWomen members who are interested in advancing their IT skills and knowledge. May 31 is the deadline for entries. The drawing will be held at the ITWomen June 15 program "What's Hot, What's Not in Technology." To enter the Technology Training drawing, interested applicants can email their name and contact information to Victoria@liaisonit.com with the subject heading: ITWomen Technical Training Scholarships. ITWomen, in coordination with The Academy, has donated a one-time only $10,000 in-kind scholarship covering tuition and textbooks for courses leading to technology certifications. The program will take six to nine months to complete. The Academy scholarship may be applied for on-line at http://www.itwomen.org/contribu A scholarship selection committee consisting of members from FIU, FAU, MDCC, Nova Southeastern University and technology industry professionals will choose a recipient from eligible candidates accepted for nomination. Women of all ages who are seeking to change their careers, or are re-entering the workforce, and who live in either Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach counties, are eligible for nomination. "ITWomen is committed to promoting career advancement and creating a cooperative network of professional women who work in various disciplines within the field of information technology in South Florida," said Victoria Usherenko, founding member and president of ITWomen. "ITWomen is providing the next generation of professional women with invaluable opportunities, including a mentorship program, special programs and events and scholarships."
